“Positive mental health is a key tool for a happy and successful life.” – Dr. Sindhuja Mishra

In conversation with Dr. Sindhuja, she says “at some point in our lives we all feel significantly debilitating and need professional help to deal with the problems that we feel are beyond our control. All of us face different psychological issues at different phases of life ranging from academic, professional choices, career aspirations , relationships etc. It could even be the death of a loved one, the loss of a job, social anxiety or fears, depression, stress, burnout, or even substance abuse. Counselors can empower such individuals ,they help to analyze the situations from different perspective, identify internal strengths ,remove emotional blocks, reach their solutions /goals and find more meaning, joy, and fulfilment from their lives and relationships."

Taking youngsters in particular, they combat multiple challenges right from the minimalistic like hormonal, emotional and physical growth, they go through rapid variations at early stage. Along with that the expectation and pressure put on them causes a lot of mental and health disorders like identity crisis, anxiety, eating disorders, social isolation, stress, depression, anti-social activities and even self-harm to name a few. A positive attitude is essential to cope with these rapid changes. Different values need to be experienced and internalised at this stage to foster personal, psychological ,social harmony for wholesome development and oneness with the world. These years are the CRITICAL PERIOD FOR FORMATION OF HABITS (GOOD OR BAD)! Hence, seeking guidance from a counsellor can really help in adding immense value to a child’s successful journey. A counsellor not only guides on career paths and how to deal with the problems but also listens and provides possibilities, solutions and new skills to learn. That's how they develop a mental health literate child.

Remember ....It is easier to build up a child than to repair an adult !

Dr. Sindhuja shares an example with us.. “sometimes as a student children experience academic difficulties not because they do not understand the specific course material, but rather due to other factors such as anxiety due to performance pressure, poorly developed study skills, unplanned career or unrealistic expectations about how much they can handle. In this scenario, We ,at Psychologix, helps them develop strong academic skills to succeed in school/college, earn vocational certificates, associate degrees and transfer to a professional world with much more sorted mind.” She added.
